AbstractIf politics is understood as a foundational and open-ended activity, a general problem that arises from such a framing concerns the question of how to sustain the possibility of continuous openings without converting action into permanence and closure. In this article, we approach this problematic by treating Hannah Arendt as an exemplary figure in the current of political thought that emphasizes the indeterminate nature of action. We focus more specifically on how Arendt addressed the question of sustaining action by exploring the role of forgiveness, promises, divided power, and principles of action in her thought. This paper compares two influential but conflicting contemporary models of politics as an activity: those of Hannah Arendt and Alain Badiou. It discovers the fundamental difference between their approaches to politics in their opposing evaluations of the contemporary political significance of the legacy of Plato, Platonism, and the Platonic Idea. Karl Popper’s and Arendt’s analyses of the inherently ideological nature of totalitarianism are contrasted with Badiou’s vindication of an ideological “politics of the Idea.” Arendt and Badiou are shown to share an understanding of politics as a realm for the human deployment of novelty and world-transformation. Nella prospettiva di una filosofia fenomenologica dell'educazione, na partire dalle varie forme presentismo e di scetticismo etico del nostro tempo, viene presentata una lettura di alcune pagine della riflessione “pedagogica” di Hannah Arendt contenuta soprattutto nella raccolta di saggi Tra passato e futuro. Viene messo in luce come per l'autrice la crisi della memoria storica abbia conseguenze specifiche sulla “natalità”, termine con il quale ella indica l’arrivo del nuovo, quindi anche l’arrivo di nuovi nati e generi di conseguenza una vera e propria "crisi dell'educazione".

Tämä tutkielma tarkastelee Hannah Arendtin poliittisen ajattelun moderneja ja postmoderneja piirteitä. Tutkielma kartoittaa Arendtin ajattelun keskeisimmät teoreettiset taustavaikutteet ja motiivit, sekä esittelee Arendtin poliittisen filosofian keskeisimmät teoreettiset elementit. Keskeinen argumenttini on, että nämä elementit muodostavat yhden yhtenäisen teoreettisen projektin ja filosofisen ihmiskuvan, joka on koko Arendtin ajattelun keskeisin punainen lanka. Tutkin ja analysoin Arendtin ajattelun taustavaikutteita ja filosofista ihmiskuvaa moderni–postmoderni -keskustelun tarjoaman teoreettisen kehikon kautta.
